Horti EP Primary School

A BRIEF BACKGROUND OF HORTI E.P PRIMARY SCHOOL

HORTI is a small community with a population of about 350 people. It is along the Akatsi-Xavi  road. The only thing the villages can boast is a Primary school (K. G 1 - Class 6) which was  established by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (E. P) in 1946. The school is situated at Dzamesikope at the heart of the Horti community. The major occupation in Horti is farming. 

SOME CHALLENGES OF THE LEARNERS IN HORTI E.P PRIMARY

1. Most Learners in Horti E. P Primary school are from poor backgrounds which leads to  absenteeism and truancy.  

2. The Learners are not properly cared for by their parents / guardians and most of them are  staying with their grand or great grandparents since their biological parents live  elsewhere. 

3. Broken homes are also common in the village. 

4. The poverty level is on the rise in the community which is having negative impact for  example, stunts physical growth and development on the part of most Learners in Horti  E.P Primary school which can be seen in their appearance and clothing one of the big  challenges most learners face which most of them have little or nothing to wear on a day  to day basis.
